Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa
SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE
Dreams Cancun is working towards a greener and healthier planet by implementing actions focused on the following environmental well-being programs:
- Environmental Management: Dreams Cancun promotes projects that contribute to environmental improvement and quality by monitoring water consumption (we saved 1,999.66 m3 of water in 2010) and through waste management (we sent 15,655 Kilograms of glass to be recycled from 1/09-12/10).
- Distinctive "H": A recognition for the hygienic handling and high quality of food, this involves correct separation of the waste so water is not polluted. Dreams Cancun uses grease traps, tests the chemical oxygen demand and recycles used oil.
- Earth Hour: Dreams Cancun will join the activities of "Earth Hour" promoted by the World Wildlife Fund through activities run by our Entertainment Team and by switching the lights off for an hour in specific parts of the resort.
- Coastal Cleanup Day: Environmental committee members and volunteers of Dreams Cancun visited Punta Nizuc to clean the beach and relieve one of the most pervasive pollution problems threatening the world's oceans, lakes, and rivers: trash. On the cleanup of 2010 we accomplished recovering more than two tons of garbage.
- PET Contest: During 2009, Dreams Cancun implemented the PET contest with employees and their families, promoting family life and environmental awareness. We collected 318% more bottles from 2009 to 2010.
Dreams Cancun Marine Sea Turtle Preserving Program

At Dreams Cancun we are committed to protection activities involved in the Marine Sea Turtle Preserving Program:
- We promote, don't capture, damage or kill any marine turtle.
- We use low-intensity red or amber lights to illuminate the exterior of the beach of the hotel.
- We remove the beach chairs in order to make it easier to nest.
- We don't bother the turtles when they are nesting.
- In cases of bad weather, we switch nests to a nursery area until eggs hatch.
Since 2009 we have released more than 4500 Bianca, Carey & Laud baby turtles into their natural habitat.
