Thanks to the abundance of underwater life and corals, the calm, warm Caribbean Sea, and variety of dive spots, this location is considered a perfect dive destination.

Apart from diving, hotel guests can take part in other activities like local snorkeling excursions, a sunset catamaran tour, Chavon & Catalina Playa Grande tour and even a banana boat ride. ScubaCaribe provides rental of all non-motorized water sport equipment.

PADI Dive Course Information

Following the PADI educational system, ScubaCaribe offers PADI courses in English, Spanish, Italian and German for divers of all levels, including beginners. For new divers, we recommendPADI Discover Scuba Diving, a first underwater experience consisting of a theory class, 1 pool session and 1 dive from the boat.

Those looking to become certified divers can join the PADI Open Water Diver Course, one of the most popular and complete dive course in the world. Confined water sessions will take place in the hotel pool, while theory sessions will take place inside the dive center.

Certified divers can join daily local dives from 17 different spots around Bayahibe:

  • 9:00am to 12:15pm - Double tank dive (meet at 8:30am)
  • 2:30pm to 3:15pm - Single tank dive (meet at 2:00pm)

At Dreams Dominicus La Romana, our certified on property diving company, ScubaCaribe, is a PADI 5 Star Dive Center. PADI dive programs and courses are available for every level, from beginner to PADI Rescue Diver.

The diving boat departs directly from the hotel beach and is equipped with drinking water, oxygen tanks, a first aid kit, sunscreen, and an underwater ascending/descending line. Before the boat’s departure, a dive briefing will be provided by multilingual staff. In order to keep diving safe and comfortable, ScubaCaribe dives in small groups divided by experience of participating divers.

Dive Excursions to Catalina Island

Catalina Island is a protected area that is part of Parque Nacional Isla Catalina, where divers will join a double tank dive at The Wall and Aquarium. After your dive, enjoy a buffet lunch on the stunning Playa Grande right on the island.

Snorkeling Boat Excursion

Enjoy the Caribbean Sea with our boat excursions:

  • Chavon and Catalina Playa Grande, is the most complete full-day boat excursion, and includes a visit to Altos de Chavon, a cruise on Chavon River, snorkeling and lunch at Playa Grande on Catalina Island
